What's included

Custom Development Available (Billed T&M)

Anything custom is treated the way we treat any custom programming project. If you want Barton extended to reach data it doesn't reach yet, adapted to an unusual NCR Voyix Counterpoint configuration, or you need hands-on help beyond onboarding, we scope it, quote it, and bill it as time and materials at our standard development rate of $155/hour. You approve the estimate before any work starts — no surprises on an invoice.

The $299 setup fee is non-refundable.

AI subscriptions are billed separately and directly by the provider — Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT. Their pricing and plan features are set by them and can change; check current plans before you buy.  Barton places no limits on the number of questions or queries you can ask. Any limits you run into come from your AI provider’s usage allowances, not from us.

how it benefits you and your team

Six Ways It Impacts Your Day

When You Stock for Multiple Locations

“What's running low across all my locations?”
Instead of running a stock report, exporting it and reading between the lines.

Comparing Weekly & Monthly Sales

“How did last week compare to the same week last year, by category?”
A period comparison in one sentence instead of an afternoon in spreadsheets.

Before You Call your Wholesale Customer

“How much did XYZ, Inc. purchase last month, broken out by category?”
Customer and account history, without piecing it together screen by screen.

When Someone Asks About Stock at Another Store

“Which location has the most of this on hand?”
One question covers every store — no logging in and out of each one.

When Something Feels Off

“Has this category been slipping for a few weeks?”
Patterns across days, weeks and seasons that no single report would show you.

When Your Team Needs More Information...

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Everything You Need to Know

New to AI tools? Never heard of an MCP? Start with the first question — it's the one that clears up the most confusion.

No — and we want to be precise about that. Barton is a connector. It’s plumbing, not a brain. The intelligence comes from whichever AI assistant you choose to use; we recommend Claude.

What Barton does is give that assistant secure, structured access to your NCR Voyix Counterpoint data, and translate between the way you ask a question and the way NCR Voyix Counterpoint actually stores the answer. Rapid POS doesn’t build AI models and doesn’t sell them. We build the connection that makes your POS data usable by the AI you already trust.

Put simply: you’re not buying artificial intelligence from us. You’re buying the door that lets AI see your business data safely.

Barton is a secure connector built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — an open standard, created by Anthropic, that lets an AI assistant connect to external systems and databases in real time.

An AI assistant is extraordinarily capable at reasoning, but out of the box it knows nothing about your business. It can’t see your sales figures, your inventory levels or your customer history, because that data lives in NCR Voyix Counterpoint, not on the internet.

Barton is the bridge. It gives your assistant structured access to your NCR Voyix Counterpoint data, so when you ask a question the answer is drawn from your actual numbers — not guessed. Without it you’d need a developer to export data manually, write custom queries, or build a full integration from scratch.

Claude and ChatGPT are general-purpose assistants. They’re brilliant at reasoning and answering questions, but they have no way to reach private business systems on their own. They don’t know your SKUs, your sales history or your store’s inventory.

Beyond access, there’s the question of how to speak NCR Voyix Counterpoint. NCR Voyix Counterpoint has a specific database schema, data relationships and business logic built up over decades. Knowing which tables to query, how inventory is tracked across locations and how transactions are structured takes deep domain expertise. That’s the work Barton does, so Claude interprets your NCR Voyix Counterpoint data correctly from the very first question.

Honest answer: very good, but not guaranteed to be perfect. Barton gives Claude direct access to your live NCR Voyix Counterpoint data, so the raw numbers it retrieves are accurate. The risk lies in interpretation — how Claude reads your question, which time range it applies, or how it handles unusual data conditions.

Our recommendation: trust, but verify. Use Barton to surface insights quickly, then spot-check anything that will drive a purchasing decision, staffing change or financial report against NCR Voyix Counterpoint directly. Think of it as a very fast, very capable first draft — not a final authority.

1. Install Barton. Connect Barton to your NCR Voyix Counterpoint system. This is a one-time setup; after that Barton receives improvement updates automatically.

2. Connect your AI account. Link Barton to Claude (or your preferred AI). It appears as a tool Claude can call whenever it needs your data.

3. Ask your question. Type naturally — “What’s my best-selling category this month?” Claude calls Barton, pulls the relevant data and replies with a clear answer.

4. Get your answer. Results are fast and consistently reliable. Your data stays in NCR Voyix Counterpoint — Barton only fetches what you ask for, when you ask for it.

Yes — Barton is a connector, not a standalone app. You’ll need an active subscription with an AI assistant that supports connectors. We recommend Claude (made by Anthropic), because that’s what Barton is built and tested against and what our setup instructions are written for.

The underlying MCP standard is open, and connectors also work in ChatGPT. If that’s already your company standard, Barton will work there too.

Your AI subscription is billed separately, directly by the provider. Note: we provide direct setup support for Claude configurations only.

Yes, and it’s a reasonable way to try it out. Anthropic does allow custom connectors on the free Claude plan, limited to one connector — which is all you need for Barton.

The catch is usage. Free accounts have tight limits on how much you can ask, and you’ll reach them quickly once you start putting real questions to real data. It’s fine for occasional, casual use.

Our honest guidance: start on free if you want to see whether you like it, then move to a paid plan before you depend on it for anything operational. If a manager is going to check inventory every morning, a free account will frustrate them.

There’s no specific model to choose. Connectors work at the account level, not the model level — so whichever current Claude model you’re working in will be able to use Barton. You don’t need to hunt for the right one.

What matters is the plan. Anthropic supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. For most retailers an individual paid plan (Claude Pro, currently $20/month) is the practical starting point. If several people will use it, a Team plan is worth considering — on Team and Enterprise an account Owner adds the connector once and everyone else simply connects to it, which is easier to administer than setting it up person by person.

Plans and prices are set by the AI provider and do change. Check their current pricing page before you commit, and we’re happy to talk through which plan fits how your team works.

Your $99/month keeps Barton running, keeps it current, and covers Barton itself. If something isn’t connecting or isn’t behaving the way it should, that’s ours to fix and there’s no charge for it. Every improvement we ship reaches you automatically.

Work beyond that is handled the way we handle any custom programming engagement. Extending Barton to reach data it doesn’t reach today, adapting it to an unusual NCR Voyix Counterpoint configuration, or extended hands-on training past your onboarding walkthrough is scoped, quoted, and billed as time and materials at our standard development rate.

We’d rather tell you that up front than surprise you on an invoice. You’ll always see and approve the estimate before we begin.

Yes — and that’s by design. Barton is a living product. We’re continuously expanding what data it can reach and how accurately it interprets your questions. Every improvement ships automatically to subscribers: no reinstallation, no upgrade fees. Your feedback directly shapes the roadmap.

Your data never leaves your environment without you asking for it. Barton operates on a request-only basis — when you ask a question, it fetches only the data needed to answer it. Nothing is stored on our servers, and nothing is sent to Claude proactively.

Claude is governed by Anthropic’s privacy policies, available at anthropic.com. We recommend reviewing both before an enterprise deployment.

Stop running reports. Start asking questions.
